Jeremiah’s supper!
In this chapter of Jeremiah, Jeremiah is calling out to God and asking for the people of Israel to not be exiled. God tells them that because of the sins of king Manasseh, the son of Hezekiah, that they will be exiled.
God takes sin seriously, and there are earthly and eternal consequences to our sin. All sin belongs to us and we are told in Ephesians 4 exactly what the “fallen man” looks like.
But God…
Jeremiah continues to talk to God and God tells him in Jeremiah 11 that “surely it will be well with your remnant” This leads to the response by Jeremiah in verse 15 that ” Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I am called by your name, O LORD, God of hosts”
From Genesis 3:15 on is the fall of man and how, through Christ, will come the restoration of not only man but creation itself. We in our own strength can’t restore ourselves, and in our sin we need the “Word made flesh”
Jeremiah understands this, listening to the word of God he found joy, understanding and rejoiced over it. We as redeemed people eat the Word and find our Joy, comfort, and understanding in it. So go devour the Word, know who Christ is FOR YOU, and know even in our exile that God is sovereign over all and loves you with a love that is “incorruptible, undefiled, and guarded for!”
