I have been justified – completely forgiven and made righteous.
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:1)
Our identity in Christ is not how we feel but what God declares us to be. You may not “feel” like you have any righteousness in you, as a matter of fact you may not “feel” good at all, if I was honest most of the time I KNOW that I’m not righteous, good, perfect, or blessed…
BUT GOD says you have been forgiven from your sins past, present, and future and imputed with His righteousness. Let that sink in for a moment, all of our sins PAST, PRESENT, and FUTURE! You see God is not limited by time or space, God is not restrained by anything, he is God so when he desires to give good gifts, such as forgiveness, he doesn’t do it “half” he takes care of it ALL!
That’s good news for the Christian because we still drag behind us the corpse of the old man, in other words we still sin, daily!!! To know we are forgiven is also to understand we don’t have to live with the guilt of sin. We can live in the freedom that we are fully righteous by the grace of God.
