I died with Christ and died to the power of sin’s rule over my life.

– We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. (Romans 6:6)

– For by a single offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. (Hebrews 10:14)

-And such were some of you, but you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our Lord God. (1 Corinthians 6:11)

Never forget what is sanctification ..it means “to be Holy” Christ has made you Holy, not because of how hard you worked or how much you love but because of His grace (unmerited favor)!

This makes a lot of sense if you know your OT history, in Leviticus 16 and Numbers 28 in the Torah (first 5 books of the OT) we see a “shadow” of what it means to be Holy. The Hebrew nation understood that only the high priest could enter the Holy of Holies, and the closer a person gets to this location was a direct correlation to how Holy a person was. For example, Gentiles could only commune in the outer courts, and only God’s chosen people could even enter the inner courts. As a matter of fact, only the high priest went near the Mercy seat (behind the veil) a couple times a year and had a rope tied to him in case he was not deemed to be Holy. You know what they say…location, location, location. And Holiness was definitely a matter of location.

In Hebrews 10:4 we read that there was this “single offering” and because of this is was sufficient for “all time.” What the writer of Hebrews is telling us is that Jesus Christ’s death on the cross was this perfect sacrifice!!!! This sacrifice tore the veil that separated us from our Father and now, being gifted righteousness, indwelt with the Holy Spirit, we are fully Holy (sanctified) and no longer are separated from God.

You see, You can’t be more Holy or less Holy…you are God’s perfect amount of Holiness! This is good news for us because it isn’t based on us, but the person and work of Christ!!!

You are holy!
