I have received the Spirit of God into my life that I might know the things freely given to me by God.

– Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. (1 Corinthians 2:12)

The Holy Spirit is the means God uses to show himself to us and to tell us about the gifts God has given us. We are told in Romans 8:30 that we have been redeemed, justified, sanctified, and glorified. The cool thing about all of these gifts…they are all PAST TENSE which means they already have been done and given. God isn’t in the cosmos shaking his giant finger everytime we are morally inept, He isn’t waiting for us to “mess up” and then drop the hammer. We are told, in multiple scriptures, that God from the foundation of the Earth formed us, breathed the breath of life into us, loved us and created us for a specific purpose. These gifts, given by God are made apparent and given through the Holy Spirit who are resting in Christ Jesus.

Our purpose you may ask??? Simple, Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” This is the purpose for our lives, look no further!

Now to put this all together, we are given good gifts from God. We HAVE BEEN redeemed, sanctified, Justified! With these gifts given to us we now have the privilege to proclaim the Good News, or as my Pastor Martin would say…”we proclaim Jesus and the resurrection!!!!” We GET to be an instrument in our redeemers hands, we get to stand high on a mountain and herald this message…Jesus has died FOR YOU!!!
