I have been given the mind of Christ
- “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ. (1 Corinthians 2:16)
Our minds and feelings can deceive us due to our sinful nature, as Ephesians 2:3 indicates we are “by nature children of wrath.” Nevertheless, our story doesn’t end there. We also possess the mind of Christ. This brings about transformative and eternal change.
Romans 12:2 tells us to “renew our minds”; we do this by immersing ourselves in doctrine and relying on the Holy Spirit to guide us and teach us all things, helping us to align our thoughts and actions with God’s will. We are given the gift of God’s Holy Scriptures, and what a precious gift it is! In times of uncertainty or confusion, we can read the Bible, finding solace and direction in its verses, reassured that the Holy Spirit will teach us all things and illuminate our understanding. John 14:26 says, “the Holy Spirit will teach you all things and will remind you everything I have said to you,” emphasizing the promise that we are never alone in our journey of faith. By trusting in the Word and renewing our minds through prayerful meditation on Scripture, we become more attuned to the divine guidance available to us. We can draw strength from this relationship as we navigate the complexities of life, knowing that the One who loved us first will faithfully guide our every step, helping us to become more like Christ in our thoughts, actions, and interactions with others, ultimately reflecting His love and grace in a world that desperately needs it.
