…but God #9

Deuteronomy 7:23 But the Lord your God will give them over to you and throw them into great confusion, until they are destroyed.

In this section on Deuteronomy God is talking to his Chosen people, the Israelites, and telling them that they must overtake 7 different tribes of peoples that inhabitant the promise land. God assured His people by reminding them of his His powerful work in Egypt (vs17)  Prior to this God reminds them that they are being lead by God (vs2) and that the Israelites are a “treasured possession (vs6)” Finally God makes it clear the main reason why they will be victorious in verse 21..” you shall not be in dread of them for the Lord your God is in your midst a great and awesome God.

What a wonderful reminder for us on God’s working in our lives to defeat sin, death, and the devil! Did you catch the reasons why God tells us not to be afraid???

  1. We are led by God!
  2. We are God’s treasured possession
  3. God promises are yes and amen in Christ
  4. God is great and dwells with us

WOW, that is amazing how the God who created all demonstrates his love for us in such a profound and tangible ways. Not only in the promises but the glorious fulfillment of those promises that we witness throughout history. Hebrews 4:16 reminds us, “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” This passage encapsulates a powerful invitation to come before our Creator with boldness, no matter our circumstances. Throughout the ages, God was imploring the people of Israel to seek Him, to turn their hearts back to the one who knows them best. The same call echoes through the pages of Hebrews, urging us not only to seek God but to actively embrace His presence in our lives. Run to God and soak up His goodness and faithfulness, allowing His love to wash over you and fill you with hope. When sin, death, and the devil try to knock you down, don’t try and “muster up” your own inner strength, which can be so fleeting and unreliable. Instead, look to Christ, whose strength will overcome any and all hurdles, empowering you to rise above the challenges and embrace the abundant life He offers. Remember, it is in our weakness that His power is made perfect.
